What is MAT Pilates?

Mat Pilates is a form of exercise that was developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. It emphasizes controlled movements and is performed on a mat with minimal equipment. Mat Pilates helps to improve posture, flexibility, balance, and core strength by using a series of flowing movements and controlled breathing. It is a low-impact form of exercise that can be beneficial for people of all ages and fitness levels.

MAT Pilates at Reload

2 Variations of Mat Pilates classes are offered and the name should be a give away of the difference!

  • MAT- STRONG

  • MAT- STRETCH

MAT-Strong will typically be higher intensity, and may include resistance such as weights, bands and balls… expect to feel the burn, or the sweat on your brow!

MAT-Stretch will focus much more on your mobility, stretch, and general suppleness, and may typically be more flowing and relaxing.

Typically, MAT-Stretch will immediately follow a MAT-Strong class. Please let our admin team know if you hope to attend both…

Newbies- we recommend coming 10-15mins early to your first class to be taught some of the basic principles to ensure you get the most out of each and every session.

Due to being non-clinical classes, provided by Pilates instructors, these classes are typically not claimable with most Private Health Funds. We recommend that you speak to your Health Fund to get clarity on this.
